Cheap Imitations of your Favorites!
What's your favorite knock-off game? Well, let's talk about four of Cam's obscure, weird, and vintage bootleg character faves.
First off, we have a weird wizard Blooper from the cover of a bootleg copy of Super Mario Bros. 3. Comparing this bootleg's art to the original, you'll notice a few things. They completely erased Mario from the art, also erasing most of Luigi (but left his one foot for some reason). However, what they did do was add in that one little Blooper (complete with wizard hat) in the sky. We feel like he's special and should be made into a sticker.
Secondly, we have a random anime lady that was just thrown onto a bootleg copy of Dr. Mario. Based on how often bootleggers would change Mario into "Mary" on the title screens of their hacks, let's take it literally and imagine her name is Dr. Mary. She seems like a fun and capable young doctor with aspirations and skills! Let's make her a sticker, too.
No bootleg compendium is complete without Grand Dad 7, a rather infamous Mario-themed bootleg of the The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy. They literally just edited Mario's head onto Fred Flintstone's body in the game. He's a bit of a meme but deserves to be a sticker just as well.
The last one is a bit special in our hearts. Dendy the elephant! Dendy was a Russian clone of the original NES, technically it was a Famicom clone, but still, it was a popular pastime after the fall of the Soviet Union. A lot of Russians who were alive at the time basically talk about Dendy being a sort of escape for them, and the most popular game, generally speaking, for the Dendy was bootleg copies of Contra. Alongside several "9999 in 1" game carts that never actually had that many games on them. He's a special character to a lot of people, so he should be a sticker!
